Ancient Egypt is a UK based bi-monthly magazine on Egyptology which is published six times a year. It is written by experts in the field of Egyptology. The current editor and deputy editor of this magazine are J. Peter Phillips and Sarah Griffiths. The consultant editor is Professor Rosalie David.

In a concise manner, ancient Egypt magazine seeks to explain the mysteries of this ancient civilization. However, the magazine doesn’t deal just with the past, but also provides updates on the latest travel information to Egypt and assesses the impact Egyptology has on modern Egypt.

One of the special features is “News from Egypt” which brings the latest news and exclusive images of recent discoveries made in Egypt from sites all across the country. Each issue contains a large section devoted to reviews of the latest books and internet material. It also has substantial recommendations for further areas of study. It also occasionally includes material on Coptic or Islamic Egypt.

In each issue, there are extensive listings and contact details of Egyptology societies that are in UK, USA, Canada, and Australia and also full details of lectures and events in the UK . It also lists any forthcoming special Exhibitions or events that may seem interesting to readers. They also review international exhibitions, educational material, visits to museums in the UK and abroad, the book on Egyptology and their features in every issue of Ancient Egypt.

Previous Editor: Robert Partridge

Robert Partridge became the editor of Ancient Egypt in May 2004. He lectured on ancient Egypt to Egyptology Societies within the U.K and abroad. He was the Chairman of the Manchester Ancient Egypt Society which is one of the largest and oldest of the many provincial Egyptology Societies in the UK and was also on the Committee of the Northern Branch of the Egypt Exploration Society.

Robert Partridge used to run the Ancient Egypt Picture Library. His photos are used by publishers of books and also for television programs. He had been an Egyptological advisor to several television programs and films. Bob is the author of three books on ancient Egypt and he has written articles for various specialist Egyptological publications, which include KMT and, of course, Ancient Egypt magazine.

Peter is the current Editor of Ancient Egypt magazine. He has written and published books on Ancient and has also lectured on Egypt in UK and abroad.

Sarah Griffiths, who holds certificate in Egyptology from University of Manchester, is a teacher and a writer. Griffiths has 18 years of experience in broadcasting with BBC.

Consulting Editor: Professor Rosalie David

PROFESSOR ROSALIE DAVID is a world famous Egyptologist renowned for her pioneering work in investigating mummification using nondestructive techniques. She is Director of the KNH Centre for Biological and Forensic Studies in Egyptology at The University of Manchester. Prof. Rosalie David is Director of the Schistosomiasis Investigation Project and International Mummy Database. She bagged the prestigious award from the Anglo-French Medical Society for her research work into this disease, a scourge in the ancient as well as the modern world.

Prof. David has authored numerous books and articles on mummies and the religious practices of the ancient Egyptians. She is a presenter of TV and radio programs and an extremely popular lecturer all over the world.

Rosalie David, being the first woman professor in Egyptology in Britain, was the first to receive an OBE in recognition of her services in Egyptology.
