Whenever we talk about Egypt the first thing that comes to our mind is the vast stretch of desert land. Deserts formed a part of the lives of the ancient Egyptian people like they continue to do so even today. The Egyptians Deserts were also the place for the burial of the dead. During the early period, the people of Egypt were of the view that Egypt was separated into two types of land namely, Black land and the Red land.

Egyptians Deserts

The ancient Egyptian people had assigned different meaning to each color. Black color could mean a symbol of fertility and life. Black land was that part of the land which was along the river Nile. The Egyptian people grew crops on this land. It was the only portion of land on which such cultivation activities could be carried out owing to the rich, black silt deposited by the water of the Nile River.

The red color was associated with anger and fear. The Red land was the barren desert that protected Egypt on two sides. This barren desert not only separated the ancient Egypt from its neighboring countries but also protected it from the probability of invasion from enemies. The Red land was also a source of precious metals and semi-precious stones.
