Introduction

Egypt has known as a country pyramids. Generally, Pyramids refer to the huge triangle monuments specifically associated with funerary practices of ancient people. But, some experts describe their astronomical values as well. There are pyramids in Latin America as well but they are different in styles and purposes. In Egypt, pyramids are numerous in number.

The Identity of Khui

Khui was a kinglet in ancient Egypt. It means a minor king. There are two theories about the exact identity of Khui. Some scholars think that he belonged to the Eighth Dynasty.

Others think that he belonged to a provincial monarch. This monarch might have been came to the power after the collapse of the central authority during approximately 2150 BCE.

The Discovery of the Pyramid

It was the year of 1912. Egyptologist Ahmed Kamal mention about this pyramid in one of his articles. Then, French archaeologist Raymond Weill explored the above-mentioned complex.

Debate

There is a debate regarding the exact nature of the superstructure. According to Ahmed Kamal, it was a huge Mastaba. But, after exploration, Raymond Weill argued it to be a pyramid.

The Pyramid Complex

There was a mortuary temple, a mud-brick enclosure wall, and the main pyramid. But the sad thing is that all are in almost ruined condition presently. The complex is located in the Dara necropolis in Middle Egypt.

On the main site, archaeologists couldn’t find any artifacts bearing the name of Khui. Then, one must ask how we can say that this pyramid belonged to him!

Well, archaeologists unearthed a stone block from a nearly located tomb. It has a relief bearing the cartouche. It is a specific sign in hieroglyphs. The name of Khui is inscribed on it.

Archaeologists argue that this pyramid may have a larger base than that of the Step Pyramid of Djoser. Generally, experts call the structure a pyramid. But, in reality, there is very little evidence to prove that. even it is not clear whether the structure was completed or not.

The Funerary Complex

The location of the funerary complex is on the northern side of the main pyramid. According to archaeologists, it may belong to a mortuary temple of the pyramid complex. But the funerary complex is almost ruined. Thus, it cannot be reconstructed.

There is the potentiality for further work in the near future in this area. Because archaeologists have noticed an extension of the ruined remains into the modern village of Dara. Thus, we may get more information about the funerary complex in near future.
